Authorities have suspended the search for a missing hiker in Shenandoah National Park who is now presumed to be dead.

Spokesperson Claire Comer said in a release yesterday that the remains of a male believed to be the missing Mateo Cobo Zevallos was discovered by searchers yesterday afternoon at 12:15.

The 21-year-old was reported missing to Fairfax County Police on May 6th. His vehicle was discovered near the Overall Run Falls section of the park on May 16th, around a mile-and-a-half from where the body was located.

Park officials say all trails that had been closed during the investigation have now re-opened.
