ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College field hockey team fell to Elizabethtown 3-1 on Wednesday evening.

Score: Elizabethtown 3, Bridgewater 1
Records: Bridgewater 5-4, Elizabethtown 6-4

How It Happened
• Bridgewater had the game’s first scoring chance as Carly Lindley’s shot missed wide. Elizabethtown flipped the field and had a pair of chances of its own, but both shots were blocked on their way in. The Eagles went to work offensively 10 minutes in. Emily Dickinson had her attempt turned away, and Kiley Parker buried the rebound to make it a 1-0 BC lead. The Eagles continued to push as Casey Grell’s shot on a penalty corner missed wide. EC had a penalty corner of its own later in the frame, but another Blue Jay shot was blocked by the Eagles.
• The teams traded chances to open the second. EC had chances in the second minute of the frame, but another Bridgewater block and a miss wide kept the Eagles’ lead intact. BC had a scoring chance midway through the frame with a pair of penalty corners. Bridgewater fired three shots during the push, including another attempt from Parker that was turned aside by the EC goalie. Elizabethtown broke through with under five minutes to go in the half. Schumacher buried her shot to level the game at 1-1 heading to the half.
• BC opened the third quarter with a man-advantage after an early green card on the Blue Jays, but had no shots to show for it. EC regrouped and controlled the pace in the third frame. Thaleia Khader turned away four shots from the home team in the period before a shot from Sara Watson snuck through on a rebound to make it 2-1 for the Blue Jays after three quarters.
• Elizabethtown opened the fourth frame on the offensive with a pair of penalty corners, and then earned a penalty stroke. Khader stood tall in her cage as she turned away the scoring chance and kept the game at a one-goal difference. BC used the momentum and earned a pair of corners of its own. Grell fired a shot on target on the initial attempt, but it was saved. Elizabethtown looked to add insurance a few moments later as its third penalty corner in the exchange resulted in a goal by Hartman to make it 3-1. Khader made two more stops in the closing stages to keep BC in it, but the Blue Jays held on.

Game Notes
• Parker had BC’s tally on her tame-high two shots on target. Khader made eight saves as she went the full 60 minutes.
• Hartman, Watson and Schumacher had the goals for Elizabethtown. DeBlasio made three saves for the Blue Jays in net.
• The teams were tied in shots at the intermission, but the Blue Jays outshot BC 16-1 in the second half to hold the edge offensively.
