LEXINGTON, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater College men’s basketball fell to Washington & Lee by a final score of 79-56 on the road Wednesday night.

The Bridgewater College Eagles (BC) have dropped to 7-17 overall and 3-12 in conference play, and the Washington & Lee Generals (WLU) have moved to 17-7 overall and 9-6 in the ODAC.

How It Happened
The shooting efficiency was a nagging itch all game for the Eagles as they struggled to work out of their off-rhythm deficiency. BC exerted much effort on the defensive end to make up for the shooting mishaps, but even then, WLU found ways to break through. From the very beginning, the Generals used a 5-0 scoring run to set the stage. In four minutes of play, WLU answered effectively, lunging out to a double-digit advantage.

Carter Palmer clawed back for the Eagles to cash in a bucket and bring the squad back to a two-point deficit. Jahmir Brown then tied it with a bucket from the charity stripe. That explosive burst was all BC could muster in the first half, as the Generals turned up the speed and pressure. WLU went back up by 10 with four minutes to go. The first half went to the Generals as the Eagles entered the second half down nine points at 40-31.

The shooting efficiency steadily improved for the Generals forcing even more separation in the second half. The momentum was effective and controlled the rest of the way. WLU pushed to a 14-point lead in four minutes and quickly boosted ahead aided by short scoring bursts. Mason Ramey helped dwindle the lead, but WLU held firm control.

Halfway into the second half, the Generals worked to a 20-point advantage, leaving no space for BC to take charge. WLU extended to the largest lead of the night at 77-46 to hold the momentum for the final minutes. WLU closed out the game with a final score of 79-56.

• Carter Palmer stayed aggressive on both ends of the floor with 10 points and seven boards.
• Mason Ramey tallied a team-high 12 points.
• Bridgewater shot a season-low from the field at a 32.2% clip.
• The Eagles were active defensively and finished with 12 steals.
