DAYTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Dayton Town Council has voted to increase monthly trash collection fees.

At May 14th’s meeting, council members approved the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget that included changes to Waste Management services that will go into effect later this summer.

Monthly trash collection fee will bump up from 22-dollars to $24.50 effective July 1st.

Additionally, residents and business owners who have more than one trash toter will be charged an extra fee of 2-dollars per toter each month. Officials say the changes will help offset collection, maintenance and replacement of additional waste containers, as well as rising landfill disposal fees and general inflationary operating expenses
