ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY: (Rocktown Now) – Over one hundred fire and support crew members continue to battle the Taylor Hollow wildfire in George Washington National Forest.
The U-S Forest Service reports that the blaze is now approximately 92 acres, but rain showers helped slow further growth over the weekend.

A total of 108 personnel are currently assigned to improve containment lines near Taylor Hollow and Whetstone Ridge, including three 20-person fire crews and 34 firefighters, a 5-person crew supporting a Type 1 helicopter, and 9 engine crew members supporting 3 Type-6 engines.
As a result, officials say the Whetstone Ridge Trail and Big Mary’s Road are temporarily closed, and smoke will continue to be visible in the community of Irish Creek. The fire was first discovered on July 5th.
