STAUNTON, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A woman who worked as a pharmacy technician in training in the Walmart Pharmacy in Staunton has admitted to illegally possessing a Schedule II drug.

In a 13-page filing issued yesterday in US District Court in Harrisonburg, Niquelle Alyshia Madden is waiving her right to a trial and is pleading guilty to the federal charge. She faces one count of theft of a pre-retail medical product.

According to court documents, in February of last year, Walmart had multiple substance shortages related to Madden’s employment, including three Adderall capsules and nearly a dozen Oxycodone tablets. Walmart surveillance footage was reviewed related to the data and shortage and showed Madden allegedly taking each of the missing medications.

She will face a year in jail and a $100,000 fine when she is sentenced at a later date.
