WASHINGTON, D.C. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison men’s soccer fell on Tuesday night, 4-0, at Georgetown at Shaw Field in its first road match of the season.
The Dukes dropped to 0-4, their longest losing streak since 2016, as the Hoyas improved to 2-2-2.
Redshirt junior Cameron Arnold and junior Florentino Junior led the JMU offense with a pair of shots each. Redshirt junior Jack Doogue made his first career start in goal for the Dukes, making three saves in a full 90 minutes of action.
How It Happened
• Both teams were chippy to start the game, combining for 10 fouls through the opening 20 minutes.
• Georgetown broke the scoreless tie in the 21st minute, netting a goal after Will Caldwell popped a goal over the head of Doogue.
• The Hoyas netted a goal in the 36th minute, but after a review by the officials offside was called and the goal was waved off.
• Junior had an opportunity to equalize, striking from just outside the top of the 18-yard box, but had his shot saved in the 55th minute.
• GU doubled its lead, scoring in the 72nd minute. Doogue looked to punch the ball out, but after a review the initial call of goal stood.
• After finding the back of the net in the 72nd, Max Viera scored his second goal of the night for a 3-0 lead in favor of the Hoyas.
• In the 80th minute, GU scored a goal to add to its lead and make it 4-0.
