One injured in Harrisonburg shooting; victim reported stable after transfer to UVA

HARRISONBURG, VA – (Rocktown Now) – A man injured in a shooting in the 1200 block of Devon Lane late Friday night is now in stable condition after being transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center, according to updates from the Harrisonburg Police Department.

Police first responded around 11:05 p.m. Saturday night to the 1200 block of Devon Lane for a reported gunshot wound. Authorities said one victim was found in serious condition. Investigators emphasized that there was no active threat to the community and urged residents to avoid the area while officers conducted their investigation.

By 12:25 a.m. Saturday, police remained on scene and announced that the investigation would continue for an extended period. Officials asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Harrisonburg Police Department at 540-434-4436 or submit an anonymous tip through the city’s Tip-411 system.

In an update issued at 1:50 a.m., police reported that the scene had been cleared and that traffic on Devon Lane had returned to normal. Investigators said there was still no active threat to the community, but no suspect description had been released.

The victim was initially transported by ambulance to Sentara RMH Medical Center before being flown to UVA Medical Center. Police said the victim’s condition had improved and he was listed as stable.
