HARRISONBURG VA (Rocktown Now) — Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA is partnering with PetSmart Charities to bring adoptable pets to Harrisonburg PetSmart in support of National Adoption Week.
National Adoption Week is taking place July 21 through July 27, 2025.
Each summer, animal shelters take in scores of kittens and cats during “kitten season,” following peak breeding activity for cats and this year is no exception.
The RHPSCA encourages people to join their adoption event at the Harrisonburg PetSmart to spend time with adoptable pets of all ages, breeds and temperaments in spacious areas to find just the right match.
Every pet who finds a home frees up space for shelters to help the next animal in need. With staff and volunteers available to help potential new pet parents, visitors can spend time with cats & kittens available for adoption.

National Adoption Week, taking place July 21–27, offers us an important opportunity to place cats and kittens for adoption at the PetSmart location in Harrisonburg. With the shelter currently over capacity and more than 450 animals in our care, the need to find loving, adoptive homes are more urgent than ever. We hope this special event helps connect more pets with the families they deserve.”

- Monday through Friday from 5:30-7pm
- Saturday from 12:30pm-2:30pm
- Harrisonburg PetSmart located at 1671 E Market St
