STERLING VA: (Rocktown Now) – A Wind Advisory remains in effect for a large stretch of the central Appalachians and Shenandoah Valley from 7 a.m. Monday through 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory covers Washington, Augusta, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick (Va.), Page, Warren, Clarke, and stretches westward into Hampshire, Morgan, Berkeley, Jefferson, and Hardy counties in West Virginia, along with portions of north‑central Maryland.
Forecasters say powerful west winds of 20–30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph, are expected throughout the day. These conditions may result in downed tree limbs, scattered power outages, and hazardous travel, particularly for trucks, vans, and other high‑profile vehicles.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and prepare for potential disruptions. The Weather Service notes that winds of this strength can make driving challenging and recommends exercising extra caution on the roads.
